Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

This solution worked for me, but does not address the entire issue.

I am still unable to initiate a scan from the printer.  I still get the error message that a computer is not fornd.  This is despite being able to initiate scans from the computer and print from the computer just fine.

One problem with the solution is that there is no way to scan more than a single document at a time using the document feeder.

Greetings and Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Don't worry, I'm here to help! To better assist you - What's the model name of the printer and the operating system installed on the computer? Refer to this link for steps to find the product details. (Ensure not to share the serial number, email, phone number, etc.)

While you respond to that, let's try the steps mentioned in the documents below -

HP Printers - Network Scanner Connection Error (Windows)

HP Printers - Network Scanner Connection Error (Mac)

Hope this helps!

I tried everything suggested and I still get the same error.  When I run the scan doctor it reports that it fixed some things and does a test scan that works fine.  But I still cannot scan from the printer.  It fails when I try to scan from the printer, which is the only way to scan using the feeder (>1 sheet).

The proposed solution has not fixed the issue.

This issue seems to come and go for me randomly over time.  Power cycling the printer and rebooting the computer do not seem to fix the problem.

To be clear, I can always scan when controlling the scan from the computer.  Also, I can always print just fine.  It's initiating the scan from the printer that seems to randomly work or not work over time.

Thanks for replying. Let's try these steps -

1) Print a Network configuration page from the printer's control panel.
2) Look for IP address from the Network configuration page.
3) Open web browser - Chrome or IE or any other browser that you are using.
4) Type the IP address mentioned on Network configuration page into the browser's address bar or URL bar and press enter button.
5) Go to the Network tab.
6) Click on Networking from the left pane.
7) Then click on Network Address (IP).
8) Click on Manual IP Address and go to suggest a Manual IP.
9) Scroll down the screen and select Manual DNS server.
10) Enter the Primary and secondary DNS server from the Network Configuration page into the Manual Preferred DNS server field.
11) Click on Apply.

Here's a video link with step by step instructions.

Also, download and install the printer firmware update from here.

Let me know.

Anita,

In the nework configuration page, the only IP address is listed under "General Information" as "URL(s) for embedded Web Server" as: "http://0.0.0.0"

I assume that is not what you would expect and that something else needs to happen to fix that?

Regarding the firmware update, my understanding was that the "HP Print and Scan Doctor" that I had run had already taken care of any update.

Thanks for replying. Have you enabled the scan to computer? If you have not, please try these steps -

1) Search Windows for your printer model name, and click the printer name in the list of results. HP Printer Assistant opens.
2) Click Scanner Actions, and then click Manage Scan to Computer.
3) Click Enable to activate the scan to computer option.

Can you also send us a picture of the network configuration page in a private message? Check next to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it. Click here for more details on how to access the private messages on HP Forums.

I'm not seeing any option to enable scan to computer.  This includes looking in the following locations within the HP Printer Assistant:

Print, Scan and Fax => Scan => "Scan a Document or Photo"

Print, Scan and Fax => Print => "Set Preferences"

Print, Scan and Fax => Print => "Customize Your Printer"

Can you elaboirate in exactly how to find this option?

I will send my network configuration in a proivate message.

According to the report the Wireless is disabled.

Please try a network restore and setup the printer on the Wi-Fi network -

Step 1 Network Restore -

Press the (Wireless) button, and then, using the buttons on the right, scroll to and select Wireless Settings, select Restore Defaults, and then select Yes.
A message appears stating that the network defaults have been restored.

Step 2 Reboot the devices -
1) Turn off the Router, Printer, and the computer.
2) Wait for 60 seconds.
3) Turn on the Router first and wait for all the lights to stabilize.
4) Turn on the printer and allow it to configure itself.
5) Turn on the computer.

To connect the printer to the network, refer to this document.
