HP 4650
macOS 10.13 High Sierra

when I scan with my HP 4650 the scanned file has lots of vertical black lines covering the whole document. I tried cleaning the glass but it has made no difference. This problem has just started, had no problems previously.

It sometimes happens when I am copying a document from the flat bed, so is the problem linked?

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Support Community.

Can you try this:

HP AiO Printers : Resolving Vertical lines or bands on copied or scanned document

If both scan and copy is producing the same defect, it's likely that the scanner is defective.

Thanks.

Problem solved by disconnecting the power from the printer for a minute or so.

Wit hindsight should have done that in the first place.
