HP 4850 photo scanner
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

In September 2020, trying to install an use a very old HP 4850 photo scanner on a Win 10 machine.  I have ordered a new power supply for the scanner, so I can't test it just yet. Have installed the Win 8.1 64 drivers for it.

Here is my question:

I am specifically trying to get the scanner back up and running to scan some 35mm negative strips, which this scanner has specific features for.  Assuming the Win 8.1 drivers work, I would assume that I need some sort of HP (or non HP) software to actually tell it to scan the negatives and store the scans. My limited Google search has only yielded "HP Extended Scan" software (which once again I have not been able to test until I get a new power supply).

Do I need dedicated software to scan the negatives?

Will HP Extended Scan program allow for scanning negatives?

Are there other programs still available that will work with this scanner to scan negatives?

Thanks.
