Hp OfficeJet Pro 7740
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

What are scanning resolution options for 7740??? I see 75, 100, 200, and 300. I thought there was a 1200 dpi available but I don't see it.

Hi @shiflerg,

Thanks for using the HP Forums.  Apologies for jumping in here.

HEre's how you can scan higher resolution for the HP Officejet Pro 7740:

Create a scan shortcut and high resolution scans  (HP Officejet Pro 8700 AiO series and 6900 series)

(different printer but the steps are the same)

This document explains why you get 300 dpi shown on your software:

@shiflerg

To access the full range of scan DPI options,

If you have not done so, install the Full Feature Software

After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in

Use the Scan Software on the computer.

Printer Software:

Printer Assistant shortcut icon on the Desktop named for the printer >

Scan a Document or Photo (wording varies)

When the shortcut opens, select DPI as available for your printer

and / OR

Use an alternate scan software - Windows 10 supports several options, including the very cool

HP Scan Extended program.

  • HP Scan Extended – Exceptional standalone scan program:  Single, Multiple scans, Auto-Crop!
  • NAPS2 -- Not another PDF Scanner
  • Printer Software (Full Feature Software > Printer Assistant)
  • HP Scan and Capture
  • And others…

I have done all this but I still don't have an answer. Is there no dpi greater than 300 dpi for the HP OJPro 7740? I think you have given me a generic answer for all hp scanners. Has anyone scanned on this device with greater than 300dpi.

I was having that same problem with my OfficeJet Pro 7740. As a matter of fact, every time I try to scan beyond 300 dpi I get incorrect areas of scan; that is, I select an area, and it doesn't scan it completely.

Thank you so much for explaining how to access the advanced scanning settings. This is exactly what I was looking for!
