HP ENVY 5020
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I was wondering if it's possible to scan a document via the HP ENVY 5020 and make it searchable/editable. My previous HP printer/scanner had that facility and I am just wondering if the HP ENVY 5020 does.

Thanks

Hi @Modemadfan

If the HP FULL solution software doesn't have it, then it means this printer doesn't support Searchable PDF.

Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Support Community.  It may be possible if the HP Full solution software is used.

Can you download and install the FULL featured printer software from HP for your operating system:

https://support.hp.com/sg-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-envy-5000-all-in-one-printer-series/14...

Once you have downloaded and installed the FULL feature software, you will be able to print and scan.

Start up the HP Printer Assistant and then select Scan.

Watch this resource, at time 1:23, you will see a "Destination" > File Type.  Click on the down arrow and it will should display "PDF- Searchable" as one of the options. (we have seen that option on another printer model)

If you need help to install the HP FULL solution software, you may refer to this video.

Hope that helps.

Indeed, OCR is not available as part of your printer software and therefore Searchable PDF is not available, see the File formats, supported section of its specs:

https://store.hp.com/sg-en/default/hp-envy-5020-all-in-one-printer-z4a69a.html#additional

You may give the 3rd party NAPS2 application a try, this is a freeware 3rd party software which provides Searchable PDF creation too:
