Brand new out of box today.  Installed HPSmart and its working fine.  But dont want to have to go to that just to scan.  So tried installing HP Easyscan and it opens fine on my Mac, but within 1-2 seconds it disappears. Tried dragging it to trash and reinstalled it again, and same thing...it crashes and closes.

@Musedeb, Welcome to HP Support Community!

I see that the HP Easy Scan application crashes when you try to scan. In order to isolate and resolve the issue, I'd suggest you create a test user and see if it launches without issues.

Follow the steps below-

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click Users & Groups.

  2. Click the lock icon  to unlock it.

  3. Enter an administrator name and password.

  4. Click the Add button  below the list of users.

  5. Click the New Account pop-up menu, then choose a type of user.

  6. Enter a full name for the new user. An account name is generated automatically. To use a different account name, enter it now — you can’t change it later.

  7. Enter a password for the user, then enter it again to verify. Enter a password hint to help the user remember their password.

  8. Click Create User.

Refer to the document Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac for help(This is a third-party link. Please do not click on any ad, image, download, popup or link or anywhere else as this is a third-party link meant only for viewing information).

Now, launch the HP Easy Scan Application and try scanning. This will help us identify if it is a system-wide issue or an account-based issue.

Keep me posted for further assistance.

Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution. Click the “Kudos/Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!
