Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

macOS 10.15 Catalina

My printer won't scan with my mac or pc. It says the 'printer is busy' or 'printer is in use' on my computer depending on whether I use hp easy scan or hp smart, and when I try to directly scan from the printer it says the following message:

 

"The scan could not be completed due to one or more of the following issues:

- Connection to the computer is lost.

- The scan application on the computer is currently in use.

- OCR application is not installed on the computer."

 

I have tried resetting the printer, disconnecting it from the outlet and restarting my router, un-downloading and redownloading both hp smart and hp easy scan, resetting my printer settings in my mac etc... and nothing has helped. It will still print though.

@Shirtthief19, Welcome to HP Support Community!

 

To be able to assist you better, I'd like to know the following-

  • Are you able to make photocopies on the printer?
  • How is the printer connected to the computer?
  • What happens when you try to print?
  • Is there any antivirus/security software installed on the computer? If yes, disable and try scanning.
