Both photocopying and scanning produce a densely stripy image, there is no sign of the original document. The flatbed screen isn't dirty.
Printing works fine and the transmission of the scanned image to the computer works fine. The printer is no longer under guarantee.
Any advice and/or help would be much appreciated.

Let's try a power reset on the printer
Reset the product
Try and copy
If the issue persists, I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your printer
