HP Envy stopped scanning

I am using an iMac and my HP Envy 4500 will print but today stopped scanning - the printer will print wireless but will not scan today either wirelessly or when I attach it to the computer - I have unplugged the printer,  replugged several times, I have gone to utilities and it says the printer is enabled to scan, but it still won't scan.  What more can I do?

That's unfortunate. Which application are you using to scan?

Do you get any errors while scanning?

Let us first check if the hardware of the printer is working fine.

Try making a standalone copy and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Update the printer firmware

Check the scanner bar functionality

Perform a visual test of the scanner mechanism to see if it is jammed.

1. Remove any original documents or photos from the scanner glass.
2. Lift the scanner lid slightly, and then press the Copy button or icon.

If the scanner light does not move or moves halfway or is not lit, the scanner mechanism is likely jammed/broken.
