wanting to scan a document bigger than A4 I want to remove the cover containing also the ADF system. Analysing the system I feel this should be possible. The manual does not show however any hints.

is this principally possible? And, if yes, how to do so?

Welcome to HP support community.

 

Below is the maximum scan size supported by the printer.

  • Maximum scan size from glass (all models): 216 x 356 mm (8.5 x 14.0 inches)

  • Maximum scan size from ADF (all models): 216 x 356 mm (8.5 x 14.0 inches)

the maximum size for scanning I know - that's not the problem. But take an oversized document - how do you scan this when the cover is standing upright and does not allow you to center your A3 or A2 document on the glas of the scanner?

to be more precise: I want to scan a part only of a document which is much larger than A4 (210x296mm) and which i cannot cut to the scan size of the scanner. Even folding it is not possible because it is a card bord.

Does this explain my problem? How can I remove the cover of the OJ Pro 8710 Scanner?

I am afraid, you can not scan any document larger than the supported size.

If it is not possible to fold or cut, then there is no option to scan.
