HP OfficeJet Pro 8610

I have an HP OfficeJet 8610 that I had setup to Scan to a Network Folder on my WD MyCloud 2TB Cloud device and it was working perfectly until I changed out my Verizon FIOS router.  I can pring wirelesly still with no issue, but I cannot get the Scan to Network folder working again on my WD MyCloud device.  I have tried to edit the setup on the device webpage and I continually get the following message = "A problem occurred during the test. Click "Edit" to check your settings, and then try again. For more information, visit www.hp.com/support.".  I have even tried to add a new folder on the WD MyClound and my Google Drive and still cannot get anything to work now to Scan to Network Folder?

Any ideas or recomendations?

Thank you

Hello, @jb99999

Since the issue started after you changed the router, the issue could be with the printer web services. Let's try these steps to assign a manual IP and a public DNS:

  1. Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to get the IP address.
  2. Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
  3. Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
  4. Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
  5. Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
  6. Click on radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)

Now, restart the printer and router and try scanning to the network folder. If the issue persists, try to re-configure the scan to network folder as suggested in my previous post.

That should do the trick, let me know the outcome!

Good luck 🙂

Hello, @jb99999 - Greetings 🙂

Thank you for becoming an HP Forum member. It is a dynamite location to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others!

I understand you are trying to setup a “Scan to network folder” to scan over the network. Let’s try the steps mentioned below and check:

  • Go to the printer EWS page by entering the IP address in the web browser address bar.
  • Click the “Scan” tab, click “Network Folder Setup”, and then click “New”.
  • Enter a folder name. This is the name that will display on the printer control panel for the folder you will select to send scans to.
  • Enter the network folder path that you want scans saved to.
  • Enter your Windows User Name and Password. You must have administrative rights to the computer or server that hosts the network folder.
  • Click “Next”, and then enter a security PIN to restrict access to this folder from the printer control panel, if desired.
  • Specify any scan settings, and then click “Save” and test or “Apply” to complete the folder configuration.
  • On the printer control panel, select the “Scan” icon.
  • Select “Network Folder” to scan to the connected computer.
  • Select the name of the network folder that you created, enter the password if prompted, and then scan the item.

Give it a shot and let me know if it helps!

Cheers 🙂

Thank you for looking at my issue and offering assistnace.  Greatl appreciated!

So I tried the steps you recomended and I still cannot Scan to a Network folder that exists on a WD MYCloud device.  It worked perfectly until I switched my current Verizon FIOS router to the newest version.  Now all I receive is an error message that it cannot connect on the printer and the following message from the Save and Test on the printer Webpage

A problem occurred during the test. Click "Edit" to check your settings, and then try again. For more information, visit www.hp.com/support.

Any further recomendations to troubleshoot would be greatly appreciated?
