HP OfficeJet Pro 9015
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

We need a printer that can scan to a networkshare on a Windows server, using SMB 2.0 or better. I am looking to purchase a new printer, since the old one we have does not support SMB 2.0 or better (and never will).

Does the HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 support SMB 2.0 or not?

[and why is it not documented where I can find it]

Thanks!

Nice to see a list of supported devices, just like the other list I linked to.  The 9015 is not listed. So I may assume this new model HP Pro Inkjet 9015 does NOT support SMB v2 and discard it as a buying option for me? I hate to order, test, then after failure return (although I could).

For a device so new on the market, I assumed v2.0 would be supported. Can anyone please verify what *is* supported?

I know less about dancing the SaMBa than you do, I just offered a bit of moral support.

That is very kind of you, blue!

However it does not solve my issue. It is like, I have this mushroom (the 9015) which can be poisonous (only have SMB1) or not. The list you share gives a list of non-poisonous mushrooms, but I do not have those.

Is it so weird to ask, or does HP want thousands of customers buying that printer without knowing?

So the question remains : which inkjet printer in the 9015 Pro user range does HP offer that I can buy without a doubt, which supports SMB2 or 3

Dunno.

Ask HP.  I'm just a voluteer, never worked for HP.

I never said you were an HP employee, Blue. But thanks for the suggestion.

Can anyone else verify please?

Hi,

The following document lists previous models such as the Officejet Pro 8710 printer to support SMBv2 but it does not include later models:

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05547920#page5

I would assume it should support SMB 2 as a replacing model, but can only assume.

I may test it with SMBv1 disabled and let you know the results, but I afraid I would only be able to access the printer during the next week.

Let me know if that may help and I would test it as soon as I can.

Cheers,

Shlomi

Hi Shlomi,

Thank you for your reply and offer. I agree it should -being a newer model- support SMB2. However as it is not listed in the specificatiions anywhere, maybe it is not - the printer being a lower range model. We need it for a branche office with two persons, and it nicely fits their needs.

We have a HP 8600 pro, so we can print and scan to email. That is temporary though, because scan to folder is preferred by other workflows and procedures. Our new Windows server has SMB1 disabled. I have also asked HP salessupport using a web inquery last week, but no reply yet.

If it is not too much trouble it would be great when you could test sometime in the next two weeks. 🙂

Sure, will let you know in a couple of days.

Cheers,

Shlomi
