HP Officejet 6700

I have been having an issue the last week with my printer no longer copying or scanning. I can still print from my computer to the machine, but when I press scan or copy, the message on the machine says "Starting copy...or Starting scan" depending on the function I am choosing. From there, nothing happens. I press the red x to try to back out of it, but it does not return to the main menu. I have to restart the machine, which resets everything, but the same issue comes up...whether copying from the glass or the feeder. I have tried removing the cartridge, unplugging it and waiting 3 minutes as suggested in another post, but that was unsuccessful. I am going to buy another printer, but figured I would see if someone might have a solution that can save me some money since the printing from a computer still works great. Thanks,

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Forums.

If you are not able to copy or scan, it's likely that the scanner is defective.

The Officejet 6700 is a pretty old printer, perhaps it's time to upgrade to the latest and greatest Officejet Pro 6960 or 6970 series?  These are a few generations after the Officejet 6700.

Thank you for choosing HP!
