Hello,

 

Hello everyone,

 

since I've updated my Mac to Catalina it won't longer recognise my HP Scanjet Professional 1000 Mobile Scanner. Before the update I was using an application called HP scanning utility (see attached image), which is not operating anymore because Catalina doesn't support 32Bit applications.

 

Neither is the scanner recognised by Image Capture, nor by HP Easy Scan or VueScan. Does anyone have an idea how to get this running again?

Hi,

Please make sure the latest drivers are installed by following HP Easy Start:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Applications/HP_Easy_Start.app.zip

 

Also, make sure the latest OS updates are installed for your Mac, there where important updates on Catalina on the matter of scanners usage over time.

 

If you experience further issues, can you see the device under Printers & Scanners at all?

 

Have you tried connecting the USB to another port or replacing the USB cable? also, make sure the cable is connected directly to a port of your Mac, any USB hubs or adapters will likely cause connectivity issues.

thank you for your quick and helpful response!

 

I have been using the 32bit version of HPScan until I upgraded to Catalina yesterday, so I am sure that scanner, cable and port are fine. Just to be sure, I checked with a different cable and port, but unfortunately that did not change things.

 

When installing the latest driver via HP Easy Start, it successfully detects the scanner, but then does not find any drivers and redirects me to the hp website. Catalina is on latest patch level and all software is up to date. Under Printers & Scanners the device is not listed.

Please try installing below drivers:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL36934/cs-90743-2/HPScanjet1000Driver20110411.dmg

 

Once completing the installation, check if the HP Easy Scan app may locate the scanner then:

Thank you once more for the follow-up. It sounded really promising, but unfortunately even after the installation of the linked drivers, the list of devices remains empty (in hp scan as well as in the system) 😕
