HP 7740
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Hello, I'm using an HP 7740. After scanning with HP Smart I can no longer use "Edit". Only a blank white screen appears, showing only "HP Smart" and "Edit" in the upper left corner. Can someone fix this problem?

Thanks!

HP Smart might have recently migrated to a new version.

"Something" happened recently to both the HP Smart for Windows and HP Smart for Mobile that impacted the HP Account login on the application.

Whether this is related to what you are seeing is not something I can judge.

After having straightened out my own HP Smart for Windows, the Edit function does work - and in fact, appears to be "smarter" than in the past.  I admin I don't use Edit that often, though, and primarily use the application for training and figuring out the "how to" for people who ask for help...

What to do?

Not sure - your situation is different from my own when everything just stopped working for lack of a login / setup.

Try uninstalling the application

Settings > Apps > Apps and Features

Scroll down, find, Click on HP Smart and Uninstall

Wait a few seconds...

Restart the computer and log in

Download-install ("Get") a new copy of the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store.

Open the App and log in using your HP Account.

If the login balks and complains about a "new" account, play along.

Enter the exact same credentials you have used in the past (same u=UserID, same password, same phone number).

When / IF the screen again complains, look for the little Red message under your entered UserID and click to log in using the existing account.

Will that help?

Might.

@ Dragon-Fur

Thanks for your response.

Unfortunately it did not work. I tried to reset, repair and reinstall the app several times, but none of them worked.

Best Regards

Unfortunate.

Well, you know what it is "not".

We have had reports the last several days that Web Services has been struggling in more than one region.

IF the issue is in some way related - and I do not know this is the case - whatever is wrong will clear once the problem is corrected by HP (who is investigating).  When?  We do not know - and we do not expect to know until it is done.

What else?

At the moment, no ideas.

Rats.
