@GRICENTRE,

Thank you for reaching out to the HP Support community!

Please provide the below information.

  • How is the printer connected? via USB or Ethernet?
  • From which device are you trying to scan? Is that a windows PC/MAC or a mobile device?
    • Do you get any error while scanning?
  • Do you have this photocopy quality issue while using the flatbed scanner glass or the top document feeder?

Let's try these steps:

For fixing the photocopy quality issue:

Step 1: Power Reset

  • Make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector.
  • Turn the printer on.
  • Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. Wait at least 60 seconds
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  • Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  • Try making a copy and check if it works.
  • If the issue persists, proceed to the next step

Step 2: Clean the Scanner Component

  • Clean the scanner components.
    • Follow the steps from this link
    • Once the components are cleaned, try to make a copy
    • Check the quality

Also, try to print a supply status report

  • Go to the Set-Up menu
  • Go to Reports menu
  • Open the Supplies Status menu, press the OK button, select Print Supplies status page item, and then press the OK button.
  • Check if the report prints fine without the black head

Let me know from which device you are unable to scan so that I can provide you an accurate resolution for the scan issue.
