Hi,

Please use Apple Image Capture for now, HP Easy Scan is not currently supported on Catalina:

periodically check for HP Easy Scan and macOS updates and then check for any difference.

Hi Shlomil,

 

Thank you for the reply.  I need some way to scan and have OCR so that the scanned document on my Mac is searchable.  I don't think Image Capture will provide OCR and searchable documents after the scan.  I have the HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer Series - N911 and unfortunately upgraded to MacOS Catalina.  (If I had known it would break my HP scanner I would not have upgraded.)  Is there 3rd party software one can buy that will allow the HP to work with Catalina until HP and Apple can re-write Easy Scan?

Hi Shlomil,

 

Does HP know when they will release an update to HP Easy Scan that will allow scanning to a searchable PDF (that is, using OCR) that works with MacOS Catalina?  I did just try HP Easy Scan again now (11/14/2019) and it still will not work.

 

Until then, the Apple Mac App Store has an app called PDFScanner for scanning using OCR for $17.99.  Would an app like this work to allow my HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer Series-N911 to scan in and create searchable PDFs?  Is there a better app that might be recommended?
