HP ENVY 5660 e-All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The HP Printer Assistant software includes scanner exposure controls (sliders) for Brightness, Contrast, and Midtone. Despite several attempts, I have been completely unsuccessful in finding any HP documentation that explains how to use these controls. I am able to scan documents successfully on my HP ENVY 5660. I would certainly like to understand how the exposure controls work in order to scan original documents which are marginal in quality.

@VeloMath2019, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

  • Exposure control in HP Printer Assistant is user specific and user-defined.
  • You will have to go through a trial and error method here to get the desired output depending on the quality of the original document to be scanned.
  • You also have an option to set it to Auto where the scanner itself will adjust the settings automatically.
  • For more info on Scan settings, refer to this document.

Keep me posted for further assistance.
