Having fax issues

HP Recommended
Hp Laser MFP 137fnw
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Hello, I am constantly receiving faxes, I hear the ring and the control panel shows "receiving", yet nothing gets printed.

If I look at the "fax transmission history" app in the start menu, it shows nothing there.

I can't run a fax test in the control panel, because I looked for the feature everywhere, and I can't find it.

I would appreciate your help, thank you in advance.

@Kobuscus, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Are you using a dedicated fax line or a shared line?

Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

You are right, there is no option to run the fax test on this model printer.

On the printer, go to Setup > Fax setup > ECM mode > Off

Receiving mode > Ans/Fax

Make sure rings to answer is set appropriately. Set it to 6.

Now, send a one-page black and white text fax to 1-888-HPFaxme (1-888-473-2963). When the service receives your fax, a return confirmation fax is sent within five minutes. This verifies that you can both send and receive a fax.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
