HP Officejet Pro 8620 (A7F65A)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Product: HP Officejet Pro 8620

Model: A7F65A

Software version: 32.3

Firmware up to date.

---------------------------------------

Scanning to PC takes a really   long time (20 pages may take 60+ minutes). Previously, it would be a fast feed into the ADF and scanned to the PC. This is using standard settings (PDF 300 DPI). Same issue using "Scan from Glass".

Steps to get there and reproduce:

1) Open Hp Officejet 8620 > Scan a Document or Photo > Opens HP Scan (NET)  - It opens HPScan.exe that is installed with the software from HP.

2) Choose whether to scan from Glass or ADF and DPI. It doesn't matter in this case - it is an issue with all configurations.

Troubleshooting Tried:

-I have toggled in the Advanced settings to see if it is a Smallest Size vs Best Quality issue. There is no significant change.

-Power cycling, Soft reset

-I also downloaded the HP Scan and Capture Utility and HP AiO Printer Remote Apps from the Windows App Store.

-No significant change.

-I have tried completely disabling all antivirus and firewall software (Whether at the time it was one vendor or another) no solution.

-The HP Scan Doctor Tool also does not fix it.

-WIA is running in Services. I have Already tried Uninstalling > Rebooting > Deleting any leftover folders > Rebooting > Reinstalling. Nothing. The firmware is up to date. I also ran sfc / scannow.

-I have tried a "Windows Refresh" in the past.

Printer Setup and Configuration:

The printer is setup either wired or wirelessly (depends) using AES 256 encryption and the signal strength is excellent.

There is not a heavy load on the bandwidth and the issue also occurs when the printer is plugged in via Ethernet Cable (Both Laptop and Printer are connected via Cable to router). I have tried both on Wifi as well.

By contrast, the Android HP Aio Printer app is very fast. It will scan 20 pages in 2 minutes with decent quality. Same wireless network. What's going on HP? -And why have there not been significant - or really any updates to the printer software from the original release v 32.3?

The HP Update utility has been deprecated. Firmware is up to date. I can view the EWS and Print fine.

Is anyone else having this or similar issues?

As I understand you are having issues with slow scanning on your HP OfficeJet 8620 printer. Don't worry as I have a few steps to help you get through this concern,

Let's start off by performing a Hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.

Remove all the ink cartridges and then try to perform a hard reset on the printer.

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Remove USB cable, if present.

Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

Now insert the ink cartridges and then try to print a test page and check if it works.

Let’s first try and make a “photocopy” to determine whether the issue is with the printer or not. Place a document on the scanner glass and choose “Copy” option. If the printer is making a good copy, then the printer hardware is fine.

If your printer connected wirelessly, make sure to temporary connect the device with USB and then follow the link to check for the latest firmware update if available for your printer, click here: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/OJP8620_R1640B_updated.exe
