When I use HP Printer Assistant to scan a document to email it goes to the old eM Client mail program outbox instead of to Outlook.    I have set Outlook as the default email program on my computer.     I have deleted my  email address in the scan to email wizard and added it back again.  How do I change it to go to the outlook outbox?

@Dhutsell Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you would like to change the email address for scanning.

Do not worry. I will try to fix the issue.

Please try the below steps on changing the default email client on Windows 10.  I hope it helps!

  1. Click on the Start Menu Windows 10 Start Icon button bottom-left
  2. Now click on the Settings Windows 10 Settings menu item
  3. Then click the System Windows 10 Settings - System icon
  4. Now click on the Default apps menu item
  5. Look for the Email heading
  6. Click on the current default email client just below the heading
  7. The Choose an app menu should now be in view
  8. Click on the email client you wish to make the default app
  9. Close the Settings window
  10. All done!

I already did the steps you suggested  and changed the default email application on Windows 10 to Outlook but that did not solve the problem.    What else can I try?

@Dhutsell

I understand your concerns.

The only option left is to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.

I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Forums profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link

Hope this helps!
