Product: MF281fdw
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Scan to email stopped working on MF281fdw printer. It kept giving me  unable to connect to smtp server , on two different  mail providers, one of them was smtp.gmail.com. I tried everything, changing the DNS,  changing the port, resetting the printer config, nothing worked.

As the last option I replaced  the smtp server name smtp.gmail.com with its IP in the output email profile  in the Scan to email configuration tab and  it started to work again.

 I managed to work around  around this issue, but I still haven't solved it.

 Anyone  can help?

If the use of the IP address works but the name does not then you have a DNS issue. Have you tried using Google's DNS server 8.8.8.8?

Hi, 

I also tried using google DNS, nothing changed. It is as if the printer could not querythe DNS to get the IP address os [Personal Information Removed].

 ita lso happened with a different email providere. I replaced its name with its IP and it also worked.

 So I think there is an issue with address resolution issue in the printer, but I don't know where.

(it was working fine for the last 2 years).
