Product: hp8300 scanjet

Is it possible to increase the maximum scan area (21 x 35.5 cm =8.5 x 14 in) to the entire scan window (22.8 x 36.2 cm = 9 x 14,25 in) when no ADF is used? If yes how? Since I have no ADF, it would be very helpful at least in the width of the missing 1.8 cm available. As scansoftware I use vuescan. The scanner software manufacturer claims that the scanner can not scan more than 21 x 35.5 cm. Is that correct?
