envy 4500

My Envy 4500 printer has quit scanning properly. It makes  about 4 separate scans to the computer for i regular size sheet of paper. It is 2 years old and has worked OK until about  a month ago. Copy and print options function work great.

@Garc

Welcome to HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.

I understand that you have an HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One Printer and it does not scan anymore. The printer is able to print and make a copy though. I read that the pmakes about  about 4 separate scans to the computer for i regular size sheet of paper.

Since copy works fine, it indicates that it is not a hardware issue.

To provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • What operating system are you using?
  • Have you tried to scan using different applications?
  • Did any updates or software changes happen for the printer recently?
  • Is the printer connected via USB or wirelessly?

Meanwhile, I suggest you to perform the following steps to fix this issue:

  • If you're using Windows then please download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor software. This is a free tool for Windows to help resolve printing and scanning problems.

Please feel free to reply and I'll assist you further. Cheers! 🙂
