Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

OfficeJet Pro 8500 A909g and 8600
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

We need firmware for our two OfficeJet Pros (8500 and 8600) that will connect to LAN folders for scanning using SMB 2.  Right now, they only work when PCs on the LAN enable SMB 1, which is a well-known security risk.  Microsoft has long urged all users to DISABLE SMB 1.

Why has HP not provided this type of security update?

If other device and software makers can provide this type of update, why not HP for its printers?

By the way, see  https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Scanning-Faxing-and-Copying/Scan-to-Network-folder-possibly-SMB-issues...    HP has known about this issue for years.

Sorry, but SMB 2 support is available for later models only, not for such older models.

ShlomiL -- Thanks for reply, and I've looked at the lists.

Sorry, but our 8500 and 8600 are not so old that HP should use this as an excuse to force us to buy a new printer. Both printers work fine.

SMB 1 was already old when we bought both printers, and other companies have sent SMB 2 and 3 upgrades for their products, especially as SMB 2 and 3 are now required security in all networks against a genuine threat.

HP's refusal to plug a known security hole against a known threat means we'll switch brands.
