Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

My printer won't scan, have tried the trouble shooting and it tells me to replace the cartridges with HP ones. Will this really cure the problem, the cartridges in at the moment are new.

Are you using HP ink cartridges?

Scanning does not require ink cartridges. Only while printing or copying, the printer makes use of ink cartridges.

 

To assist you better,

  • Which device are you trying to scan from?
  • Which operating system is installed?
  • What is the error that you get?

I have an HP 5520 printer/scanner. I am using Windows 10. I don't get an error message, just nothing happens

Click here to download and know more about the app.

 

Alternatively, you may also install HP Scan extended application to scan

Click here to download. Once downloaded, search windows for HP Scan extended.
