OCR Program

@billbe Here's all you need to know about using the OCR software/program and other scan options using HP device: click here for details,

Under FAQs you'll see this:

How do I save a scan as an editable text file?

Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software converts the letters in a graphic file to editable text (TST or RTF files).

OCR software is required to use this feature. Open HP Scan software on the computer, and then look for a Save as Editable Text (OCR) shortcut.

  • If the shortcut displays, select it to scan the item as a document that you can edit.

  • If the shortcut does not display, your printer did not ship with HP OCR software. Purchase and install OCR software, such as OmniPage, FineReader, or Readiris.

OCR Program

Bought the HP Officejet Pro 9015 printer.

Instructed to go to 123.hp.com to download the software.

On my desktop I have Windows 7. 123.hp.com downloads "HPEasy Start_11_0_4498_30" which when finished gives me an HP Officejet Pro 9010 series scanning program with OCR capabilities.

On my laptop (HP Envy) I have windows 10. 123.hp.com instructs me to download the APP  "HP Smart" program which doesn't have an OCR program on it.

Why do I get an OCR program on one computer but not the other?
