Office Jet Pro 7740
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

It appears that while the flatbed supports 11x17 page size there is no preset 11x17 page size for scanning, and if I try and create a custom page size of 11x17 I'm told that size is not supported. How can I get this scanner to scan an 11x17 page without having to preview and crop?

Also, I am not able to find the function that lets me scan from the AIO to a shared drive. How do I accomplish this?

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Support Community.

Can you try using the HP FULL solution Software?

Download and install from this link:

https://support.hp.com/ca-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-officejet-pro-7740-wide-format-all-in-...

After installing, try the following settings (may or may not meet your needs):

Page size : 11 x 17

Source : Flatbed

11x17 scan settings.jpg

Click on "More" (on the top right hand corner)

Go to Destination

Under Save to Folder, select Browse and you can save to Shared drive.

Hope that helps!

Hi that is the software I am using. But I did click on More this time and changed Source to Flatbed from Document Feeder if Loaded, and that opened up 11x17. Because for some reason this AiO ADF cannot do 11x17 that option isn't there, you have to change it to Flatbed.

In the long run, the lack of 11x17 ADF on this printer will mean it will be replaced when the competing Brother model that does support becomes available for purchase again.

Hi @TinCanFury

The specs have stated that ADF does not support A3:

https://support.hp.com/in-en/product/hp-officejet-pro-7740-wide-format-all-in-one-printer-series/768...

Maximum flatbed scan size
297 x 432 mm (11.69 x 17 in)
Maximum ADF one-sided scan size
216 x 356 mm (8.5 x 14 in)
Maximum ADF two-sided (duplex) scan size
210 x 297 mm (8.27 x 11.69 in)

Thanks.

I understand, but as of this date, none of the <$1000 printers capable of printing and ADF scanning of 11x17 were available for purchase. The closest I could find is this 7740, which can print and flatbed scan 11x17, which is most of what I need, without the benefit of also being able to ADF scan at 11x17, which is a shame because if it could it would be a great product. Instead, the competition is sold out while this unit is not popular.
