Hi @1971Walt

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you. Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

Try making a copy in color and black to identify the defective ink cartridge.

Check estimated ink levels, Replace any low or empty ink cartridges

  1. Search Windows for your printer model, and then click on your printer in the list of results.

HP Solution Center opens in a new window.

  2. In HP Solution Center, click Settings .

  3. In the Print Settings section, click Printer Toolbox.

The printer Toolbox opens in a new window.

  4. Click the Estimated Ink Levels tab.

note: If you have installed a refilled or remanufactured ink cartridge, or an ink cartridge that has been used in another printer, the ink level indicator might be inaccurate or unavailable.

Clean the ink cartridges

  1. Press Setup.

  2. Select Tools, and then select Clean Cartridge.

Manually clean the area around the ink nozzles

Refer to step 10 from this document.

Print a diagnostic report

  1. Press and hold the Cancel button .

  2. While you press and hold the Cancel button , press OK.

    The self-test report prints.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
