Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

When I go to my HP printer folder on my laptop and select "scan", it no longer scans. I haven't changed anything. The printer will still print wirelessly.

This is the error I get:

Scanner Unreachable

Scanner communication cannot be established. Ensure your product is powered on, check the connection, and ensure your network is functioning properly. If these conditions are correct, restart the product and try scanning again.

If you are installed using a cable connection (USB or Ethernet), ensure both ends of the cable are secure.

If you instaelled this printer by IP address, then you might need to update the IP address. Use the Update IP address item in the Start menu entry for this prinbter.

If you are running a firewall software, it may be blocking scan communication. Please visit www. hp.com/go/wirelessprinting for help configuring your firewall.

I have tried all of the steps above and on HP's website. Please help!

I understand that you are facing issue with wireless scanning, need not worry I'll be glad to assist you

Let's disable the IPV6 and try scanning.

There are 2 Ways to disable the IPV6 from your printer.

1 Though the control panel of the printer.

Select the Administrator option - then select Network - then select configure network settings - In this option, you can select or

    de-select IPV6.

2 Though Web browser.

If you know the IP address of your printer, then open any web browser, type in the IP address of the printer.

This will open the Web console ( EWS) of the printer. Select Network Tab and There you will see a checkbox that says "IPv6".  Uncheck that box and click apply.

Try to scan.

If the issue persists, I recommend you delete the driver at the root level and retry, follow the steps below:

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

Then, Click on this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-laserjet-pro-200-color-mfp-m276/509764... to download and install the drivers.
