HP 8710 Office Pro
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

So This is not a very user friendly printer.

First the history.  Bout this printer in July.  Friend did not like it so sold it to me.  HP 8710 OfficeJet Pro MultiPrinter.

First spent 4 hours last evening until 2 in the morning only to find out he had installed instant ink cartridges so I can not use the  print functions on this printer until I get new cartriges (on the way at 100.00)  What a rip that was.

Now try to use the scan function to scan to computer or email.......will not work.  Is this because the Print Cartridges are not registered?  If so **bleep**  This is my printer I bought it.  Now I cant use it.

If not, I have updated all files, connected to the web, everything is working but I can not communicate from scanner to computer.  Will not send out to email because I do not have my server name (WTH)

I use the scan tool that HP provides and they can not connect and offer not help

THIS PRINTER IS 2 MONTHS OLD.  IT IS A MESS HP IS MORE WORRIED ABOUT ME USING MY PRINTER WITHOUT THEIR PERMISSION.

Any help here would be appreciated.  Already out 250 for ink and printer.

Signed frustrated and going back to my BROTHER Printer

@caninekopz, Welcome to HP Support Community!

I understand it can be highly frustrating when you do not have the equipment working when needed. I shall try my best to assist you with this concern.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I would like to know the following-

Are you able to make photocopies on the printer?

Are you able to print to the printer from your computer?

Did you replace the instant ink cartridges with the regular ones?

Meanwhile, Update the printer firmware

Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates.

For more information, go to Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware.

Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor

Follow these steps to use the HP Print and Scan Doctor to fix the issue.

Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor to automatically diagnose and resolve printer hardware and connection issues.

Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hope this helps!
