The printer software is getting older but may still work with the latest versions of Windows 10.

HP Deskjet Full Feature Software and Drivers

Normally, HP Scan (part of the Full Feature Software) allows you to change the Destination in the Scan - check this setting and choose a folder / location to which you have read/write access.

Select the scan setup in the main HP Scan menu, select  More > Destination to change / verify the folder / destination.

Example

HP Scan - general setup - Find the "Destination" in More >

9025_HP_Scan_menu_JPEG_19025_HP_Scan_menu_JPEG_19025_HP_Scan_Menu_PDF_More_Destination_19025_HP_Scan_Menu_PDF_More_Destination_1

Other Scan software also includes the ability to select / change the destination.

Example

HP Scan and Capture - Microsoft Store (formally Windows Store) - Requires Windows 8 or higher

it's not a problem to change a folder. The problrm is that scanned file cannot be saved.

Thanx anyway.

OK.

Rhetorical - that is, the questions do not require you answer me.

Considerations include:

Can you change the destination and save the file anywhere else?

Is the problem with just one scan software (you did not mention what you are using)?

Is the problem just one that has developed in your account?

IF you are using HP Scan / HP Software, consider:

Print and Scan Doctor - Diagnostics - Printing  (Scroll down to see link)

Try creating a new account (local account is fine) - edit the account to type "Administrator".

Try a scan job.

No Joy?

Uninstall the printer software / application (location depends on what you are using)

Restart the computer and log in

Download-save-install the software / application

Restart the computer and log in

Print and Scan Doctor did not help (maybe he was too busy and did not have time for me). I tried to save to several folders without a success. But the luck did not turn away from me - I did save to the desk top.

Ah,  it seems the issue is some sort of odd permission problem.

Check / Remove  - Printer Software – Lurking in the User Account

NOTE:  This is Unlikely the source of the - temp folder is used for "printing"... takes just a minute to check...

Clear HP / files in Temp folder

Windows key + X + R (Run command) > type %temp%

Delete the files in the Temp folder (Ignore files that cannot be removed)

Clear HP Printer mention in AppData\Local\HP

Open File Explorer > Navigate to C:\Users\YourAccount\AppData\Local\HP

Remove / Delete any folder named for the printer you wish to remove

OR

This is also not the likely source of the problem, though things do change and it is worth a quick check in your security software logs (if you have such)...

Printer Software – Blocked in Security Software

Check your Security Software to make sure the printer software is not being blocked.  Most Security software will allow you to make an exception for applications / software you want to use on your computer.

If you make changes to the security software setup, Restart your computer and log in.

OR

The printer software is in need of being removed / reloaded.

Installation – Full Feature Software

  • Open Category Software and Drivers (possibly subcategory Software-Utility) in your printer Support Website
  • Download-and-Save the Full Feature Software / Print and Scan Driver and Accessories or HP Easy Start Printer Setup for your Operating System version.
  • Open File Explorer
  • Navigate to the folder in which you saved the installation file  (likely Downloads)
  • Right-Click on the installation package and “Run as Administrator
  • After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in

NOTES

If using USB, disconnect the USB cable between the printer and the computer before starting the installation.  Connect the cable when instructed to do so (toward the end of the installation procedure).

Both the HP Smart Application and the Full Feature Software can be installed on the same computer – when available, the Full Feature Software should be installed first (and the computer should be restarted).
