I want to set the printer's scanner to scan a page measuring 9x12, but don't see how to do this.  It is not listed.  9x12 is a common book size page.

The Full Feature Software is relatively new (at this writing, released 2018).

Assuming the Full Feature Software software is installed, the option might be available in the HP Scan software > Page Size menu - perhaps showing as "Auto Detect" or as "Detect Content on Page".  It is also possible the "custom" setting / page size can be selected and used.

Example - Officejet Pro 9025 - Scan menu

9025_HP_Scan_Menu_19025_HP_Scan_Menu_1

If the feature is not included in your printer software, it is possible the old HP Scan Extended subset software will work - HPSE does include the "Auto Detect" function to grab the boundaries of an image / document placed on the flatbed (printer glass).  HPSE also provides the "custom" page size setting / option.

HP Scan Extended

  • Download-Save-Install > HP Scan Extended
  • HPSE is a subset an older Full Feature Software suite.
  • HPSE features are very similar to the HP Scan Software released after 2015.
  • Although HPSE appears to be a separate software, HPSE is dependent on the infrastructure provided by the Full Feature Software. The Full Feature Software for your printer should be installed before installing HPSE.
  • OPTIONAL: Add HP Scan Extended shortcut to Taskbar / Send to Desktop / Pin to Start
    • Open File Explorer > Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HP Scan Extended\bin
    • Right-Click exe > Select Pin to Taskbar / Send to Desktop / Pin to Start

  • HP Scan Extended features include (and are not limited to): Single, Multiple scans, Image and PDF scans, Email as PDF / JPEG, Source selection, Page Size choices include Auto-Detect (extracts image / document boundary).  May include OCR (Save as Editable Text).

Example - Officejet Pro 8630 - HP Scan Extended - Scan menu
