Scan Doctor 5.2.1.002 is blind!

Scanjet G4050
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Device Manager shows my HP Scanjet G4050 is connected and available.  Even though it's available and I am able to scan documents, the current version of HP Scan Doctor (ver 5.2.1.002) is unable to find it.  Blind spot?
