Hi, I'm having trouble scanning using the ADF feature via the Embedded Web Server.  The documents load without an issue, however, the "scanned" pages are blank.   I've tested the scanning functionality using the flatbed glass and it works fine.  However, I need to scan multiple documents at once so the ADF feature is preferred.  I'm using a Samsung Chromebook.  Can anyone assist me with troubleshooting or share with me a way to scan multiple documents using the flatbed glass feature?

Thanks so much!

@rashadmcd,

Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support community!

  • Are you able to make copies from the printer?

In your printer, you can scan from either ADF or the flatbed scanner glass.

When you are scanning a document from the Embedded Web Server, you need the select the document source from where the printer has to scan the document.

Let's try to change the document source, it may fix the issue.

Please follow these steps:

Step 1: Load the original documents in the ADF.

Step 2: Open the Embedded Web Server page of the printer.

Step 3: Open the 'Scan' tab.

Step 4: Select the document source as 'ADF'.

Step 5: Select 'Start Scan' and complete the scan.

Let me know if this helps.

Hi, Antharva_gp -

Thanks for your suggestions.  The printer function using the ADF works fine without an issue.  It's only the scanner functionality that isn't working. I've followed the instructions by changing the settings from Glass to ADF. Unfortunately, the "scanned" pages are blank.  Please share other tips and suggestions.

@rashadmcd,

  • Please try making copies using the ADF and check if that works.
  • Perform a Power Reset
    • Make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector.
    • Turn the printer on.
    • Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
    • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
    • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. Wait at least 60 seconds
    • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
    • Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
    • Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
    • Try to scan and check if it works from the ADF.
    • (Note: When you are using the ADF, the documents should be loaded print side up)

Try these steps and let me know what happens.

Cheers!

@rashadmcd,

Let's try to update the printer firmware.

Use this link to update the printer firmware.

Once the update is complete, try to scan again.

Let me know what happens.

Cheers!

Hello,

The link/url below does not work. It sends me to a blank page.

@rashadmcd,

If the above link does not work, let's try these steps.

  • From the printer control panel display, touch (HP ePrint)
  • Touch OK
  • Touch Settings
  • Touch Printer Update.
  • Touch Check for Product Update and then follow the on-screen instructions.

This updates the printer firmware. Please try to scan from ADF after the update and check if it works.

Cheers!

Hello! I followed the steps.  The printer states that there are no new updates at this time. I attempted to scan and the ADF still doesn't work.

To be clear, the ADF works when copying documents. Shouldn't it work while scanning especially since the scanner works when using the glass feature?  Are there other settings that I need to adjust?

Thanks for your help!!!

@rashadmcd,

We can try performing a factory reset on the printer and set up the printer again. That might help.

Factory reset settings of a printer differ from one printer model to another.

I will send you a private message that would have the steps to reset your printer to the factory settings.

Note: Resetting the printer to the factory settings would erase all configurations like your Wireless settings, Fax settings, and other preferences.

         You have to re-do the set up again once you perform the factory reset.

Cheers!
