Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).
Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan

HP OfficeJet Pro 8025
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The printer will scan from the flatbed (glass), however will not scan from the ADF when using the controls (Scan to PC) on the printer window console. But will scan from the ADF if I perform the action using HP Smart. I have tried power cycling several times as suggested by HP in another post, and verified that the drivers and firmware are up to date. It seems the printer is not able to determine there is no paper on the scanner glass, and always chooses the glass, even though I get a "Document Loaded" notification when I put the document in the ADF. This is a brand new printer so I would hate to have to return it over such a simple feature. I would even be content if there was a way to set the scanner to always use the ADF from the console, and go to the PC when I need to use the glass. Unfortunately, it is stuck in the opposite configuration.

On a related note: my previous printer (HP OfficeJet Pro 6968) had other "Scan to PC" issues that began when the HP Smart software was introduced. Prior to that, there was a program I could run on my PC to set the defaults for the Scan to PC buttons. Now it seems that those settings don't exist anymore on the PC or printer console. I have looked in HP Smart and HP Assistant but could not find any "Scan to PC" button settings. Let me know if there is somewhere else I can look.

Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Support Community.  Follow these steps to resolve the issue.

Can you download and install the FULL featured printer software from HP for your operating system:
https://support.hp.com/ca-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-officejet-pro-8020-all-in-one-printer-...

Once you have downloaded and installed the FULL feature software, you will be able to print and scan.

How to Scan to Computer

Once you have installed the software:

1. Click on the printer Icon (on your desktop) and it will bring up the HP Printer Assistant.
2. Under the Scan menu, there is a “Manage Scan to Computer”, click on that.
3. Make sure that you “Enable” Scan to Computer. Also make sure the tab “Automatically start Scan to Computer when I log on to Windows” is checked if you want to make this feature permanent. (the following video will show you how)

Scan to Computer (New UI)

The next video explains why you are not able to scan from ADF -you'll need to do a scan using the FULL solution software with the Source set as "Use document feeder if loaded" and save the file, after that, scan from PC will pull from the ADF.

How to use "Scan to Computer" properly

Hope that helps.

I am an HP Employee. Although I am speaking for myself and not for HP.
