Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

Newly installed MFP won't scan to computer.  The message on the printer tells me to go the app on my Mac and under printer home page, click on Scan in the menu bar and click on scan to computer.  When i do that I get the following message: "You cannot use this function because it has been disabled. For more information, contact the person who set up the printer."  Well Im the person who set up the printer and Have no idea what to do next.  When you scroll to the bottom of the page and click on product support, then try to download the troubleshooting software for Scan, all you get is a screen full of garble

This does not help.  I have already completed all these steps.

Furthermore, I have read thru the thread:

  • "Re: Enable scan to computer from OfficeJet Pro 9015 to Mac"

This is the exact situation I am experiencing.  This situation dates back to June 2019.  Has it been resolved in the past 3 months?

How do I reply to someone less post?  I am signed in to the community, but there does not appear to be a link to reply/comment on another post.

I have also downloaded and installed there HP Utility.  My printer is not listed and when I try to add it, no printer is found.  When I try to manually add it, using the IP Address of:192.168.223.1 for Address type of IPv4, it says "Device is not reachable"

@MarkM60

The IP address stated by you seems like the printer is connected using WiFi Direct and not to your Wireless network.

Connect the printer to your Wireless network. Refer to this document to know how.

Make sure the printer and the MAC are connected to the same wireless network, either 2.4 or 5GHz network.

Once connected, try using the HP Smart app.

Let me know how this goes.
