HP Recommended
Product: ScanJet Pro 4500 fn1
Operating System: Linux

Having same problems as in previous post (now locked):

1. vertical line on all scans 

2. tried to fix via firmware update, but it fails

From knowledge base article with firmware update instructions:

"Click Choose File , browse to the location of the firmware file, select the .fw file, click Install"

My downloaded firmware file is an ".exe" file not an ".fw" file. Might this be the problem?
