When I try to scan, I get thin vertical coloured lines. I have tried all of the suggested solutions. reset by unplugging. Installing drivers again. No success. My printer is only a few years old.

Try making a standalone copy and check if the line persists. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.
