Scanner doesn't work and now I can't print

HP PSC 2175 All in One
macOS 10.15 Catalina

I was trying to scan in a document and it seems my scanner is not working. My printer still works though, but now because of the malfunctioning scanner I can't print. It just tell me over and over to restart my printer, but that doesn't seem to work. It was printing fine a few days ago, so I know the printer still works.

Scanner doesn't work and now I can't print

Hi @sbiel

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you. This seems like a hardware issue with the scanner mechanism.

Try making a standalone copy and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Check the scanner bar functionality

Perform a visual test of the scanner mechanism to see if it is jammed.

  1. Remove any original documents or photos from the scanner glass.
  2. Lift the scanner lid slightly, and then press the Copy button or icon.

If the scanner light does not move or moves halfway or is not lit, the scanner mechanism is likely jammed/broken.

For more info on resolving copy/scan issues, kindly refer to this page.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
