Scanning bar light constantly flashing

HP Recommended
HP OfficeJet Pro 8024
macOS 10.15 Catalina

Hi,

My scanner bar light is always flashing and this seems weird to me.

A support agent said on the phone this is normal as it is in a ready state.

Please can someone tell me how to disable this 'ready state' as it makes me really dizzy.

Thank you

Thomas

  • Is this the replacement printer you received from HP?
  • Are you referring to the light beneath the scanner glass? The scanner bar should not be blinking if you are not using the copy/scan feature on the printer. It does move once when the printer is turned on or off.

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.
