Hi all,

not sure what has happened over the last few weeks but now i always need to trigger the doctor fix just to scan, which is very frustrating. Any ideas on how i can fix this would be very gratefully received!

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Support Community.

Can you try using a TCP/IP port?

Create a TCP IP port

1. Print a Configuration Page to get the printer's IPv4 address (you can also tap on the wireless icon on the Front panel of your Printer to get the IP address)
2. On your PC, go to Control Panel, from Devices and Printers, right click the printer and left click Printer Properties, select the Ports tab.
3. Click Add Port, select Standard TCP/IP Port, then select New Port and follow the wizard.
4. Type in the proper IP address for the printer.

Note that you can ALWAYS revert back to the original port that the HP software installed by selecting the HP port under the Ports tab (in Printer Properties)

Thanks for replying and trying to help, i followed your instructions but the issue persists and i still have to the scan and print doctor just to scan a document each time.

Can you try this: 

Please Uninstall and Reinstall the FULL feature software following these steps:

1. Uninstall the software in your computer
2. Download and save the FULL feature software (do not install it online)

Go to Software - Utility and download "HP ENVY 4520 series Print and Scan Driver and Accessories".

3. Install the FULL feature “Saved” software

OK, the scanning now works but the printer no longer!!

It now requests that i open a tray an insert paper for duplex printing  - this used to be automatic. But now this has become a manual task

Why is this?

Try to enable it from the Properties.

 

Go to Control Panel >  View devices and printers > Right Click on the printer and go to Printer Properties >  Device Settings

There should be a Duplexor option, ensure that it is turned on.

 

This happens sometimes when a driver is reinstalled. Could be a windows or software issue.
