HP OfficeJet 6956
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi All,

Last year I bought two HP Officejet 6956 printers - one for my husband Geoff and one for me.

Awful trouble getting printer set up for Geoff and after 3 days had to ring HP in desperation.  It was fixed by Remote Access but took 30 minutes by the operator.  We dare not turn it off though.

I have recently moved my study around and now cannot get my printer to print every time and it won't scan at all.  I have tried contacting HP in Sydney and Melbourne - their phone numbers (which I googled) are not working.  Spent ages on Chat and could not get anyone.  Spent ages on the phone - again had to give up as it was taking over 30 minutes and I still had not spoken to anyone.  Even sent a private message to one of the advisors here, but no reply.

I am at a loss to know what to do.   I am in my middle 70s, have used large computers since 1962 (IBM, Honeywell) and desk computers since 1981, and have never had problems with printers before.  I still cannot sort this HP problem out.  Losing the will to live here . . .

Welcome to HP support community.

Are you getting any error message  while printing or scanning?

Meanwhile:

Update the printer firmware

Here are the steps:- Click here

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.

  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

Download and install printer full feature driver

I hope that helps.
