HP ENVY Photo 6230
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Product: HP ENVY Photo 6230

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

This email concerns the wireless printer HP ENVY Photo 6230.

Problem – unable to scan to computer.

Various HP forums suggest I uninstall the printer and reinstall it.

However I cannot uninstall the printer since it is missing from control panel although the help app for the printer is visible .

Also this printer is missing from device manager with “show hidden items “ enabled.

Please advise on what I can do to rectify my problem.

Regards

John Winney

@EFLYNN, Welcome to HP Support Community!

I see that you're unable to remove the printer from the computer. Follow the steps from the document HP Printers - Uninstalling the Printer Software (Windows).

Use this link to download and install the new driver. Configure the printer.

How to Scan to Computer

Once you have installed the software,

1. Click on the printer Icon (on your desktop) and it will bring up the HP Printer Assistant.
2. Under the Scan menu, there is a "Manage Scan to Computer", click on that.
3. Make sure that you "Enable" the Scan to Computer. Also make sure the tab "Automatically start Scan to Computer when i log on to Windows" is check if you want to have this feature permanent. (an example is shown below)

Try scanning.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

@EFLYNN

Create a new user account and reinstall the drivers-

1. Tap the Windows icon.

2. Select Settings.

3. Tap Accounts.

4. Select Family & other users.

5. Tap "Add someone else to this PC."

6. Select "I don't have this person's sign-in information."

7. Select "Add a user without a Microsoft account."

8. Enter a username, type the account's password twice, enter a clue and select Next.

9. Tap the Windows icon.

10. Select the User icon at the upper left corner of the Start menu.

11. Select the new user. You'll then sign into your account with your password from step 8.

Use this link to download and install the new driver. Configure the printer and try printing.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hello

Aplogies for the extreme delay in answering your email (domestic responsibillities).

I followed the above to the letter but still the problem exits .

I have sent another email to the Printer Software and Drivers forum entitled " Potentially faulty printer installation software".

which may be  related to the same problem.

@EFLYNN

Could be an OS related issue, I'd further recommend you reach out to the HP Support in your region for remote assistance.

Hope this helps!
