My scanner model is on the opening post of this thread. Full details are there. Would really appreciate getting this sorted out as this issue is now 3 months old without getting resolved.
Thanks..

Hello all,

I am sorry this issue has been going on for so long.

If you have not done so alreay please update to macOS 10.12.3.

Also. there is a newer version of HP Easy Scan than is currently on the App Store.

You can download it here:

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/hp-easy-scan-1_8...

Please give this a try and see if it will resolve your issue.

I just tried this and it has worked for me

I was already on that version of Sierra, I just clicked the link provided to download the latest copy of HP Easy Scan and it worked first time.

Thanks for your help !!

Hi, I'm glad that there seems to be a solution! Unfortunately, for me not already. I can download the new Easy Scan version, but when it's downloaded I can't open the installation programme. I use macOS 10.12.3, so that can't be the problem. Do you know what the problem might be?

I have tried so many workarounds with different drivers, etc, I think this is effecting the solution you have posed.

Is there a way of running getting rid of all traces of these drivers, and starting afresh?

Goes14,

I just tried downloading the link again and it seems to be fine.  Can you try downloading it again?  This version of HP easy Scan will be making it's way to the App store as well in a week or so.

The only other setting I can think of that might affect installation would be to allow installation from App Store and identified developers in Security Preferences.

Hello thegaffer,

Actually in macOS 10.12.x Apple has disallowed third party scan drivers.  Because of this decision third party scan drivers are disabled at boot for devices that support the eSCL scan protocol.  Which the ScanJet does.

You can manually remove any ICA (Image Capture) drivers that were previously installed though.

All of the third party ICA drivers are located in ~\Library\Image Capture\Devices

The HP driver is labeled HP Scanner 3.  Place that file in the trash and reboot the macOS.

Then use HP Easy Scan 1.8 (lots of updates to accomodate macOS Sierra changes) to scan.
