When I installed the full software for my HP 6978 printer, a desktop shortcut was created to access the printer. However, what I really, really need is a shortcut directily to "scan from scanner".
And, is there a way to default to .pdf rather than the .jpg the scanner is now defaulting to?
Thank you.

Hi,
Open File Explorer and browse to drive C under 'This PC'.
Open Program Files (x86), then open the HP folder and the printer model folder.
Open the bin folder, thereright click HPScan.exe and select Send to > Desktop.
When you open the HP Scan software it defaults to Save as JPEG or you may refer to scanning from the printer itself?

Thnak you so much for the solution - turned out the full software had not be downloaded for my printer. When I did that, I was able to set up the scan.exe on my desktop and the pdf/jpg question resolved itself.
Thank you again.
