Bought a new printer yesterday and was scan option seemed to be working fine. the next day not so much. option completely gone. ive reinstalled it twice already and cannot seem to get my printer or computer to recognize each other. this is the second printer from you that does this. solution?

As I Understand the HP 4650 and scan option aren't available anymore,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help you, although, to provide an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern: 

Did you recently upgrade the firmware of the printer? if not please do.

Did you attempt to reinstall the drivers from the HP website?

Which application do you use for scanning from your MacOS?

 

While you reply to that, here's a few things you can do:

Perhaps, you could try with alternate applications such as, 

  • HP Easy Scan app
  • HP Scan software
  • Apple Image Capture

I am using a wireless connection on the easy scan app.  and am currently installing or reinstalling the printer, scan(hopefully) and will let you know if this works or not

for now the scan option on my computer has returned.

the scan option keeps disappearing and so does the printing option.
