hp psc1315 printer cardridge error

hp psc 1315

My hp psc1315 has a print cartridge error as soon as I turn it on.  It does not matter whether it is connected to my laptop or not.  When I open the access panel the printer cartridges do not stop in the middle to access them but remain at the far left.  If I hit the reset button, they go all the way to the right and return to the left but do not stop in the middle where they can be accessed.  This happened in the past but after hitting the reset button a few times the error went away.  Now it does not go away.
