Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

Was working fine with version 10.15.3.  Now I keep getting the error "failed to connect to device"  Help!!!!

To be able to assist you better, I would like to know the following:

 

How is the printer connected to the computer?

Are you able to print fine to the printer?

 

Meanwhile, follow the steps below-

 

Update HP Easy Scan: Open HP Easy Scan. On the upper bar, click HP Easy Scan, click Check for Updates, and then install any available updates.

If the above solution did not help, try scanning with another app, such as Apple Image Capture. Refer to the document HP Printers - How to Scan (Mac)  for help.

Thanks for getting back to me.  I called Apple support and they had me run a malware scan which indicated that I had adware which was preventing my laptop from properly communicating with the printer. We removed the adware and everything works fine.  There was never anything wrong with the HP printer.
