Anytime I dial my neighbors phone number from an extension phone, my all in one thinks I'm starting a fax.  I'm not, I'm only dialing her number.  The phone isn't connected directly to the "Phone" jack on the back of the printer.  It is a cordless phone and the base unit is located elsewhere in the house.  Only the incoming phone line is connected to the printer.  This is very annoying especially when my neighbor answers the phone  only to hear my all in one trying to perform a handshake with another fax machine.  Hers' is the only number I have a problem with.  Please Advise.  Thanks

@zachrogers, Welcome to HP Support Community!

On a shared line, there should be a phone cable that runs from the 2-Ext port to the phone.

Refer to the User Guide pages 68 - 73 for help.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

It could be due to some interference issues, have you reached out to your phone service provider on this issue?

Keep me posted.

AT&T came out yesterday and thoroughly tested the line.  I actually showed him the HP Printer all in one trying to send a fax after calling my friend on the cordless phone, he had his diagnostic tool monitoring the line before during and after.  My phone lines and equipment are clean.  The HP Printer, on the other hand is at fault.  Please help as my friend is getting annoyed everytime I call them.

The only option left is to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.

I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Forums profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link.

Hope this helps!
